Salary £32,075 (development) - £33,458 (competent)

North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service are inviting Competent Firefighters (Control) & Crew Managers (Control) interested in a transfer to North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service.

This is a full time position based in Northallerton, we are keen to receive applications from motivated individuals, who are professional and confident in all aspects of their role, enjoy being part of a team and share our new Values as a service.

 

This role is to lead teams of Firefighters in Control in receiving and handling emergency calls from the public using sophisticated information communications technology systems, appropriately dispatching resources to resolve incidents, and arranging ongoing support for operational colleagues across North Yorkshire.

Essential Requirements

Applicants must meet the essential criteria:

  • Substantive in the role of Firefighter (Control) or above.
  • In date for all operational training in line with your current Service training policy
  • Have a satisfactory Personal Development Review, Appraisal or equivalent within the last year.
  • Not be in possession of any formal disciplinary sanctions at the point of application.
  • Not be subject to any formal development plans for performance related issues at point of application.
  • Be medically fit to undertake the role of Crew Manager (Control)
  • Align to the Services core values PRICL (People, Results, Inclusion, Creative and Learning.)
  • Willing to undertake an enhanced (DBS) check.

The selection process will entail an expression of interest, an online management and leadership assessment, interview and practical assessment.  

The closing date for applications is midday on Tuesday 4th May 2021.

Candidates should expect for the online management and leadership assessments to take place week commencing 10th May 2021. Interviews and practical assessments are then planned to take place week commencing 17th and 24th May 2021.

Within the application, you will be required to answer the following questions:

Question 1: Please provide an example of a work achievement you are proud of. What did you do? What was the outcome and what did you learn? (4000 characters max)

Question 2: Please provide an example of where you have demonstrated our Service values, this could be inside or outside of the workplace. (4000 characters max)
