Location: Northallerton Headquarters, with the opportunity for hybrid working, this includes working from NYP and NYFRS estates and home working.

 

Hours: Full Time, 37 hour per week. We are open to discussing the possibility of compressed hours.

 

Contracts available: 

1x permanent position (NYFRS contract)

1 x permanent position (NYP contract)

1 x fixed term position (NYP contract) until September 2024 to cover maternity leave.

Salary: 

NYP PO3 – 6

£40,005 - £43,098 per annum

 

NYFRS Grade 11

£38,296 - £40,478 per annum

We are currently seeking Accountants to join our Finance team where we provide financial services to North Yorkshire Police (NYP), North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Services (NYFRS) and the Office of the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner (OPFCC).

 

As an Accountant you will deal will all aspects of budgets and budget management, both revenue and capital, for NYP and OPFCC, or NYFRS. This will include providing specialist advice and support to both Finance colleagues and operational budget holders. Reporting to the Senior Accountant you will provide insight and analysis to support financial plans, identify future budget risks and opportunities, and contribute to the timely delivery of the statutory statements of accounts. 

 

We are looking for Accountants who thrive within a fast-paced environment and who are adaptable and can prioritise there work to meet tight deadlines.

 

Key requirements

To succeed you will:

  •  Hold or be actively studying for a Professional Accountancy Qualification either CCAB (CIPFA, ACA, ACCA) or CIMA or can demonstrate an equivalent level of experience and expertise.
  •  Have well-developed communication and influencing skills. With a real strength in provide financial advice whilst forming effective working relationships at all levels.
  • Be able to analyse financial information and align financial resources to meet organisational requirement.
  •  Have a proven track record of delivering improvements in financial processes ensuring accuracy, consistency, reliability, and timeliness. 
  •  Have a good working knowledge of statutory and management accounting. 
  •  Be experienced in reconciling financial reporting against operational activity.

The organisation prepares its statutory accounts in line with the Code of Practice on Local Authority Accounting. Candidates with a Local Government Finance background are encouraged to apply.
